Northmore Studios is the name of Giles Hawkins' wood studios. I take the name from one of the people whose design work inspires me personally, Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. I am passionate about creating beautiful and functional pieces that will last for generations. Giles' journey began as a child being taught woodworking by his grandf
Northmore Studios is the name of Giles Hawkins' wood studios. I take the name from one of the people whose design work inspires me personally, Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. I am passionate about creating beautiful and functional pieces that will last for generations. Giles' journey began as a child being taught woodworking by his grandfather. Always a hobby but now my profession, today I continue to be inspired by those memories and by the natural beauty of wood and the satisfaction of creating something that will be cherished for years to come.

While technique and tooling are important, sometimes the least one can do to wood is important to preserve its natural beauty; particularly in the live-edge slab work I do not over process the product, leaving the natural form as much as possible. I believe that attention to detail and quality craftsmanship are essential to creating furniture that is both beautiful and functional.
